Breathe Easter This Cold Season with our Gut Immune Solution Smoothie Recipe

It’s cold & flu season (on top of the dreaded o-cro!). In this Nutrition Bite we share a new recipe for a nutritious smoothie with ingredients to help ease your airflow.

This recipe features all of the top nutrients that can help you recover from a cough or cold

Pineapple for bromelain, which has been shown to reduce inflammation, support respiratory health, and help the body to break up and expel mucus

Mango is rich in vitamins A and C (as well as some calming, soothing qualities). Some studies have shown Vitamin C to be a powerful ally in fighting viral infections.

Cherries provide quercetin, an antioxidant that helps with upper respiratory tract infections. 

Quercetin augments the action of vitamin C, ushers zinc into the cells, and inhibits the overactivation of mast cells. 

Brazil nuts are a great source of selenium, an antioxidant mineral that supports a healthy immune response and Swiss chard, which stimulates bitter receptors throughout the body. 

Fresh-squeezed OJ pulls it all together with an added boost of vitamin C and electrolytes. 



  • 1 cup fresh pineapple
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen mango
  • ½ cup frozen cherries
  • ¼ cup Brazil nuts
  • 1 cup Swiss Chard
  • 1 cup fresh-squeezed orange juice 


1. Roughly chop the beet for easier blending.
2. Add all ingredients to the blender and blend to a smooth consistency. 

Pro Tip: If needed you can strip the chard of some of the fibrous parts for a better blend, as well.
