Can Peptides Really Reverse Aging?

This nutrition bite touches on what peptides are and what science has discovered about these little guys… Particularly their potential to help reverse aging.

What Are Peptides?
.

Peptides are essentially shorter versions of proteins. They are naturally occurring short strings of amino acids our body creates. You can also find synthetic, lab-made peptides. They are precursors to proteins such as collagen, keratin, and creatinine.

There are over 7,000 different types of peptides, and each one serves a role, ranging from protecting our skin barrier, to promoting the formation of collagen, to boosting muscle growth & repair, and even providing anti-inflammatory benefits.

Can Peptides Really Help Keep You Young?
.

Since they provide so many health benefits, it makes sense that peptides can help slow down the aging process.

Ranging from stimulating collagen and reducing wrinkles in skin [1], to lowering inflammation [2] and building bone mass [3], these little amino acid chains have shown promising results in helping people age gracefully from the inside out as well as restore vitality to those already experiencing the signs of aging.

This explains why you see peptides in so many supplements for internal and external health such as collagen and peptide-based skincare. You see, they help you feel strength and vitality. As we age, your levels and quality of peptides diminish. To some experts, this is a big reason you lose vibrancy.

However, thanks to scientists, peptide therapies are quickly emerging as a useful anti-aging strategy. Peptide therapy is ideal for individuals who feel their health is deteriorating with age despite their best efforts.

Due to their wide range of benefits, peptide therapy has been used for a variety of treatments such as:

  • Enhancing immune function
  • Increasing energy and stamina
  • Lowering blood pressure
  • Reducing visible signs of aging
  • Boosting hormone levels
  • Speeding up healing [4]

These are just a few conditions that have shown promising benefits. Beyond that, a 2009 study showed that injecting peptides into bone marrow can enhance protection from autoimmune diseases. [5] A 2017 review by the Journal of Peptide Science found that peptides demonstrated themselves to be effective for use in hormone therapy [6].

Overall, if you feel lethargic, find it difficult to focus or keep up the fire in your relationships, or fear being full of strength and vitality is a thing of the past…peptide therapy may be an ideal tool for you.

So, can peptide therapy really reverse signs of aging? Studies are certainly indicating this connection. Just last year a Chinese study observed “significant improvements in wrinkles” with twenty-two women over 40, after just 2 weeks of using a peptide complex. [7]

There’s a lot of research out there, and no doubt there’s a ton more on the way! But YOU can save a lot of time trying to find the most up-to-date science when you…
