How Wheat Might Be Causing Your Health Problems and Gut Issues

This NB looks closer at a food that’s super common, but which actually can cause many health and gut issues, without you knowing it. And probably NOT for the reason you think.

We explain why, the kind of symptoms that can be connected, and what you can do to test it out for yourself so you can have the best health and immunity possible.

When it comes to feeling your best and having good immunity, there’s almost nothing more important than gut health.

A whole host of symptoms can manifest when your gut is out of balance…

And inflammation can then increase, making things worse and then it can become chronic inflammation, which science now knows leads to all major disease

Now, there’s one ingredient that most people eat (and a lot of it) that can actually be at the root of many health problems and symptoms, and it’s because of how it can affect your gut.

What is it?

WHEAT.

Wheat-based products — like bread, pasta, cereals, wheat flour, and couscous — are all common staples of the Western diet.

As vegans and vegetarians, we often consume quite a bit. If not in products like those, then for meat substitutes, or batters and coatings.

But did you know these foods are one of the primary causes of gut dysfunction?

And for a reason you may not expect.

In many cases, the dysfunction is caused by sensitivity or allergy to gluten. Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition in which the body treats gluten as an “invader” and attacks healthy cells as a result.

Now,  true celiac disease is pretty rare, and even if you are one of the millions of people who are sensitive to gluten…

There is a deeper root cause that might be creating havoc in your gut. And it’s all about how the wheat is farmed.

Modern-day wheat is showered with pesticides – namely Glyphosate.

This specific chemical is designed in a way that it kills off the good bacteria in your gut, scientists have found. It’s this underlying toxicity is what many suspect is causing a lot of the sensitivities and gut dysbiosis when consuming wheat and gluten products containing the contamination.

If you have problems digesting gluten or wheat products in general, you’ll likely notice symptoms ranging from minor to major, including:

  • Swelling
  • Diarrhea and constipation
  • Fatigue
  • Skin breakouts and rashes
  • Anxiety • Depression
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Anemia
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Numbness in your arms and/or legs
  • Bloating
  • Stomach pain
  • Headaches
  • Inflammation
  • Brain fog

While most of these symptoms manifest in other places besides your gut, the reality is that anything that causes such a reaction in your body is going to be seriously impairing your gut function. WHICH, in turn, can lead to an array of health problems.

You may find that inflammation in the intestines can contribute to digestive problems, or you may experience “leaky gut” as a result. Some say gluten “punches holes” in your gut, leading to this elusive and problematic condition.

So what can you do about it?

First, it may be a good idea to cut all non-organic highly processed wheat products and gluten out of your diet.

That could go a long way to relieve your symptoms, especially if you give it a few weeks and allow your body to detox from the chemicals before adding in cleaner forms and sources of wheat and wheat products.

If you feel better without wheat and gluten altogether…

You might just have found one of the triggers of your gut dysfunction. Once you clean your diet from all non-organic low quality wheat, try adding small amounts of organically grown wheat products and see how you feel.

Maybe you will discover that it was not the wheat and gluten specifically causing your gut irritability, but the underlying chemicals used in growing them.
